Pain relief and mobility through adjustment

Chiropractors adjust spines and joints that have become restricted in their motion or movement, usually resulting from tissue. This damage could be from a single event, such as improperly lifting a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position for an extended period of time. This injured tissue can cause inflammation, pain and diminished function. Scar tissue—also known as tissue fibrosis—is a late effect of inflammation and can form if the injury is not properly treated. Manipulating or adjusting the affected joints and tissue restores mobility, alleviates pain and muscle tightness and allows the tissue to heal.

Besides adjusting, we use many other therapies, including laser, Kinesio Tape, electric stimulation, heat, ultrasound and Graston Technique®. Graston is one way to address tissue damage. It’s an innovative form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes stainless steel instruments to detect and treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis.

Because tissue damage can lead to further injury or can even require surgery if ignored, it’s best to seek treatment for the initial injury. Apex Wellness focuses on “prehabilitation” to help patients heal without surgery when possible, and physical rehabilitation after a surgery. Apex Wellness can also help athletes prevent sports injuries and find healing after an injury, and has a certified chiropractic sports physician on staff.
