Email message from Debbie the volunteer who inspected the yard to the director of the certification program:
Just wanted to let you know that I got to tour Rebecca’s platinum landscape this morning in the rain – somehow fitting for a yard with three rain gardens! In spite of the weather, a hummingbird was enjoying the yard! Rebecca has maintained the yard since her original certification, so there are no changes to report. She has a fabulous collection of trees and shrubs, as well as understory plants. All downspouts are disconnected and the water is either collected or run through the 3 rain gardens. Just to complete the theme, inside her wellness center, she has beautiful drawings of native plants and promotional materials for classes that can help people get started on naturescaping. Rebecca is interested in participating in the tour again. She is also willing to explain what has been done in her yard to others, including businesses. She commented on the ease of maintenance, which is a great selling point, of course.
It was a lovely way to spend a rainy morning! =)
